Question
Why does my engine shake hard?

Hi there,

I have an '02 Accord LX 4cyl, and its about 140k mile. I have an Spectre air intake on it. I started to note the shaking of the engine few day ago. It shakes seem not normal, when I test it, I push the gas so the RPM goes around 4k5-6k, and then the engine starts to shake really hard. I can feel it while seating in a car, its seem like little earthquake for me. I dont know what wrong with it, anyone has any idea. I very appreciate!!!

Check the engine mounts, see if they're in good shape. Failing that, your engine may not be firing properly, so you'd want to check that too.

Increased engin "shaking" is normal with with age. However if it is more pronounced than you think it should be, it could be misfiring, a cylinder may be "dead" and unable to fire, a motor mount may be broken, a spark plug may be fouled, objectors may be plug, cylinder o-ring might be fried, cracked block, etc. Etc.
Best thing is to nite the bullet and take it in for a diagnosis

IT SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE YOUR MAJOR TUNE UP, CHECK ALL MOUNTS ENGINE/TRANSMISSION.

this may be due to some old tired spark plugs that need to be replaced. often times your car can have these minor issues and it gets away from you quickly.
