The "medicinal herbs" I grow in a 12'x12' grow room cost me about $100 a month for HID and LED lighting.
That makes tomatoes a little expensive but I do grow a couple because I can....

It's not easy or cheap to grow most vegetables indoors. You'll need very bright lights and either a fair amount of good soil or a hydroponic system.

You can grow some things, like spices, fairly easily without too much energy input. But trying to grow corn plants indoors will require a lot more light and soil.

I'm sure there are some people on here who grow... er, certain "recreational vegetables" indoors, and they can tell you how much it takes in terms of lighting and soil mixtures.

You'll need grow lights, a timer would be helfpul also to simulate day/night hours of spring and summer. You'll also need to hand polinate flowers in order to get veg.

Grow sprouts. Terrible taste but wonderfully healthy. Some beans you take the sprout to eat, others the bean. Wonderful to talk about at parties when others bring pizza.

you aren't crazy. If you grow it indoors make sure it gets lots of sunlight and give it water, not too much though. You can check your plants by examining its roots :)

If you are growing veggies now I hope you intend to grow them to maturity indoors. It is way too early in your climate to grow them for setting out in a garden

I'm just starting to plant outdoors. To start plants inside is smart. They have gotten so expensive so growing your own is a good idea.

Grow light's south side for more natural light not to much water good drainage.transplant as needed.
